The Grammar for the Well-Trained Mind curriculum is a thorough, easy-to-use grammar program that picks up where the First Language Lessons series left off, giving students in Grades 5 and up the grammar skills needed to write and speak well. The Yellow Workbook is used along with the required Yellow Workbook Key, Core Instructor Text, and Grammar Guidebook (all sold-separately). The workbook features numbered lessons that briefly re-state the primary rule or rules being taught before diving into a variety of exercises that will carefully build understanding. Charts, graphics, and examples are integrated as needed, and regular review is incorporated throughout. Exercises often draw from literature, novels, histories, biographies, and science books to encourage students to see how the rules they're learning operate in real literature.
