What's the PIAT-R?
The PIAT-R (Peabody Individual Achievement Test – Revised) is a standardized, nationally norm-referenced achievement test designed to assess what your child has learned while homeschooling across multiple subject areas.
The PIAT-R is individually administered by one of our Mini Bees 🐝 (our friendly Florida-certified teachers) and is a great option for parents who want a formal evaluation with a personal, relaxed approach.
This test covers the following academic areas:
- Reading
- Math
- Spelling
- Science
- Social Studies
- Humanities
It’s entirely oral and conversational in tone, which makes it ideal for students who are nervous or unfamiliar with standardized testing. There are no bubbles to fill in, no long answer sheets—just a one-on-one conversation that helps us understand where your child is academically.

Testing cost includes the full assessment, scoring, and a personal review session to go over your child’s performance. You’ll walk away with meaningful insight into their academic strengths and areas for growth.
We aim to make testing as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Children are encouraged to do their best, but we understand that nerves are normal! Our Mini Bees are experienced in working with a wide range of learning styles, personalities, and needs.
Testing is casual, low-pressure, and often enjoyable for kids—especially when they realize it’s just a conversation (with a few questions sprinkled in!).
How Testing Works
Whether you're testing from home or meeting us at the library, we’ll keep the process smooth and supportive.
- Zoom Testing: You’ll receive a link before your appointment. Parents may sit nearby to observe but cannot assist during the session.
- In-Person Testing: Held at various libraries in a quiet, private space. Parents may remain nearby.
After the test, your Mini Bee will score the results and go over them with you—right away.

What Parents Can Do
You’re welcome to sit nearby during the session, but just observe quietly—no assistance, prompting, or guidance is allowed during the test.
Booking & Payment
A credit card is required to reserve your spot. If using scholarship funds, we’ll send instructions after booking—your card won’t be charged unless funds aren’t reserved.
